MEDMEN: How to Use MEDDIC in Interviews

CONTENTS

MEDDIC has never been more in demand than it is now. Companies want salespeople who are trained in MEDDPICC, and salespeople want to work for companies that use MEDDPICC.

But someone saying they use MEDDIC doesn’t necessarily mean anything. The prospective salesperson flashing the MEDDICC in an interview might flounder when asked about Metrics; the company that promised MEDDPICC as a common language might have let it languish in unused Salesforce fields.

Salespeople: Remember that interviews are meant to be a mutual evaluation. Yes, you should use the interview as an opportunity to demonstrate your MEDDPICC knowledge, but don’t be afraid to test them on how they use MEDDPICC internally. We see a lot of salespeople learning MEDDPICC because they want to work with the best of the best – so don’t settle for less.

The beauty of MEDDPICC is its multifunctional nature. An area where you might not have considered using MEDDPICC, but where it is secretly incredibly powerful, is when you are a candidate doing interviews.

If you approach an interview like a sales process and keep MEDDPICC in mind throughout, you can seriously set yourself apart from other candidates.

Here are some ways you can use MEDDPICC in the interview process:

Decision Process: What do you want from the interview? What do you want to get across so that when they are deciding who to take forward, they are fully informed?

Implicate the Pain: Why are they hiring for this role? What is the pain that they are hoping this new hire will solve?

Competition: What could other candidates going for this role be bringing to the table? Are they hiring internally as well as externally?

The interview process is pretty crucial, and MEDDPICC can play a significant role in what your next career move might look like. Use it to its full potential!
